District 20 has twenty precincts from 2001 thru 2020. Currently, we meet and the new Library next to WINCO on Chinden Blvd. Each Legislative District (LD) usually has a monthly meeting for all the Precinct Committeemen/women (PCs). Discussions cover business, projects, legislation and activities for the Republican Party. Each LD has a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary and some have Treasurers as Officers. The LD Officers are elected by the PCs in that District. Each LD Chairman is a voting member on the Ada County Republican Central Committee (ACRCC) Executive Board.
Upcoming events include staffing the Ada County Republican Booth at the Western Idaho Fair. District 20 is responsible for Sunday, August 18th. If you are visiting the Fair that day, swing by and meet your District 20 PCs. Kirstin and I will be there from 3pm to 7pm.
There is training scheduled for Rank Choice Voting (RCV) for the PCs. You will hear a lot more about this as November 5th approaches. The Jungle Primary and RCV initiative will be on the ballot. I will have much more information but it is a very, very bad deal for Idaho. It will eliminate the Republican Primary and force Rank Choice Voting to be used in our general elections. The Secretary of State estimates the costs for new systems required at $25 to $40 MILLION.
Plan to vote NO on PROP 1 on November 5th.
The next Ada County Republican Central Committee meeting is August 1st at the Ada County Court House, 200 Front St, Boise. Meeting starts at 6:30pm but if you want to be a guest, I suggest arriving by 6pm for a seat.
We are planning a meet and greet for District 20 and Ada County Candidates at the Paramount Club House on September 17th. Stay tuned for more information.
Door knocking will be starting in August and running thru November 4th! Your PCs and other volunteers will be coming through to meet with you about our candidates and to answer any questions you have about candidates, the party or PROP 1.
There are other mundane business items that get covered about fund raisers, helping other districts, PC responsibilities and county related activities. Hopefully we will have a District 20 Facebook page up in the next month or so. I will keep you posted on when it’s up and running.
I hope everyone is finding their own way to beat the heat at this time. Hopefully it will be over by the time the Western Idaho Fair is here…
