OCTOBER - The Ada County Republican Central Committee (ACRCC) has just established a “Vetting and Endorsing Committee” for candidates. The committee is gearing up to be ready for the 2026 primary elections for all “Republican” candidates in the County. This meeting saw a great deal of debate from a last minute resolution to endorse all 4 Ada County Republican Candidates. Ultimately the resolution passed 54 to 39. This will not be the practice in the future as is will be the roll of the committee to rate all the candidates individually and they will be voted on by the ACRCC.
NOVEMBER - The ACRCC meeting was postponed until November 14th. Usually our meetings are on the 1st Thursday of each month. Of course this resulted in a great deal of celebration about our National and our State elections. As we now know, the TRUMP/VANCE administration is going to drastically change what happens in DC.
Congratulations to all for working so hard to defeat Proposition #1. Seven states had new initiatives for Ranked Choice Voting. All of them were defeated and Idaho had the biggest margin of victory at 70%.
At the state level, we had a number of new conservative Republicans elected in the Senate and House. However, we also lost several really good legislators. Senator Herndon and Representative Gallagher being my personal favorites. Fortunately, we have more conservative legislators now than ever before. We need to solve the problem of out of state money meddling in our elections!
DECEMBER - This meeting resulted in a great step forward for the citizens of Ada County for their representation in the ACRCC! With very good debate and amendments the Central Committee created an attendance bylaw for Precinct Committeemen/women. You probably wonder why this is such a big deal. Consider that this meeting had 108 PCs present out of 197 precincts! This was the highest attendance to a meeting in the 4 years I have been attending. And some of them even left before the final vote. The short version: If a PC misses 5 consecutive meetings, they will be replaced. The bylaw does include some exceptions. It is beyond me that someone runs a campaign to be in an office of public trust and then decides it’s not worth their time to show up for the business meetings. The ACRCC is committed to improving this situation!
JANUARY - Not too much excitement. The regular meeting was held and in the business section several bylaw changes were considered. A resolution was submitted in opposition to Lava Ridge Windfarm. Thankfully, the new administration has stopped that project for now! Also a revision to the Executive Board (EB) bylaws on approval of expenditures was submitted. Our recent and current EB members are excellent and trustworthy. Our past EB members not so much so.
FEBRUARY - Vetting committee is in place and up and running! Attendance was up and several PCs who have not attended were there. The attendance bylaw may have inspired a few people. The April meeting will be the first time that PCs can be removed for failing to attend. The ACRCC now has the responsibility for the Ada County Lincoln Day Dinner. The budget was amended to allow for financing this annual fund raiser. Previously, this dinner was a separate non-profit for charity but they have created a new non-profit “Syringa Speaker Series” (Click here for details).
Upcoming Events:
- 2A Appreciation Night - March 4th - Alex Kinkaid Speaker (Click here for details).
- Ada County Lincoln Day Dinner for the Republican Party is April 4th. The speaker is Congresswoman Harriet Hageman from Wyoming. She is the one who soundly defeated Liz Cheney! (Click here for details).
Next article up is an update on the Legislature and how you can be involved!
Good information. Thank you.
